The User Experience (UX) Lab at the University of Houston offers a controlled environment for our community to evaluate interactive prototypes, collect user reactions, measure usability, and make projects more accessible to their audiences. Using our lab helps project teams integrate UX best practices into their work, and our team is happy to act as consultants or provide UX support. The lab, based on the Sugar Land campus of the University of Houston, is headed by Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Rodwell.
What is User Experience?
User Experience, or UX for short, is a term used to describe people’s overall experience when interacting with a product or service, such as a website, app, or physical item. The Interaction Design Foundation defines UX as “the process design teams use to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users.” This covers everything from branding and design, usability, and functionality. In other words, UX designers are responsible for designing the entire user experience, ensuring the product is user-friendly, visually appealing, and effectively meeting the user’s needs. Our lab focuses on everything from UX for the Digital Humanities to Conversational UX for AI.
